This aquatic immersion is also particularly designed for those with some experience in freediving. Freedivers, aquatic body-workers and anyone passionate about water will be invited and guided to expand their perception towards gravity and the art of freefalling at all times. In the Liquid-Body perspective we conceive falling not as a physical action, but rather, as a state of consciousness, whether one is undergoing a freefalling experience into the depths of the ocean or simply walking down the street. The experience of falling is revealing and may be utterly empowering and transformative. Yet it is by becoming acquainted with our concealed resistances and fears of falling that we may become able to recycle those paralyzing falling experiences into a portal of unimaginable possibilities.
"The bad news is you're falling endlessly, nothing to hang on to, no parachute. The good news is, there's no ground." — Chögyam Trungpa
Pool Sessions
Waters from Without
These sessions will be facilitated in a pool heated to about 35 degrees, the ideal temperature to ignite a sensuous dissolution between the skin and the liquid surroundings. Moreover, the floating qualities to move freely on and under the water in all directions can deliver a powerful shift in our perception towards gravity. To experience our bodies weightlessly is conducive to realizing those fears of falling that inhabit and shape our nervous system with the "flight-or-fight" survival mode, particularly whilst moving on land. In the pool we will use some basic Watsu tools and maneuvers as a gateway for individual and collective underwater explorations and extrapolations. The practice will be gently interwoven with respiratory and apnea practices and guidance.
These sessions are carried out in an indoors studio. We will dive into the exceedingly subtle liquid universe inside our bodies to rescue a lost connection with our inner waters. We will metaphorically navigate through our inner ocean while being confronted by gravity, acknowledging its inescapable presence at the same time. We will explore and amplify those subtle inner impulses and bodily motions that oftentimes are dismissed or obfuscated by excessive unconscious tensions and/or muscular exertions. Participants will be introduced to the principles of non-resistance through the 3 archetypes of the water: wave, spiral and sphere. We provide fertile ground for experiences to facilitate the embodiment of our original liquid nature. In the end, we will integrate the water and land practices into one larger context where our most casual expressions, attitudes and gestures may become naturally more aligned with the way the water behaves and flows effortlessly.
Land Session / Waters from Within
Liquid Body is a holistic movement practice, philosophy in flow, that invites each of us to get in touch with our ancestral aquatic roots. In the early embryonic stages, the human body is essentially made up of fluids. We are originally liquid beings and the water, this indispensable element for the creation of all living forms, represents the maternal feminine archetype. Getting in touch with this oceanic legacy of our waters from within has the power to stimulate individual and collective healing processes through liberation of a myriad of dysfunctions, inner blockages and unnecessary burden we tend to store and carry in our bodies. In the Liquid-Body perspective, the body gesture is seen as a reflection and expressions of inner states, therefore inhabiting a liquid body arises as a consequence of a plastic, resilient and adaptable nervous system, the cultivation of a bodily living process that is ever-evolving in continuous transformation.
